FOOD SERVICE INFORMATION

Full service dining hall can accommodate over 300 people. Small side 25 x 60. Large side 43 x 49.

YMCA Camp Algonquin has a modern, fully equipped kitchen and dining hall suitable for serving large and small groups. Well balanced meals are served in a large spacious dining area overlooking the deep woods. Our Food Service Manager is certified by the State of Illinois in Food Sanitation.  Groups are responsible for cleaning their tables off and bringing their dishes to the dishwasher window.

Camp meals are served buffet style in the Dining Hall. (For large groups over 100, we occasionally will serve family style). We encourage prompt arrival to insure the freshest, most satisfying meals possible. Please plan on arriving within the first 15 minutes of the serving time to ensure the highest quality meals. Each group will receive Dining Hall instructions during their first meal. Groups who wish to say grace before meals may do so, but to maximize quiet and privacy, we suggest they observe grace in their lodgings before leaving for the Dining Hall.

If a group has arranged for vegetarian meal options with the Program Coordinator, the group leader will receive vegetarian meal tickets upon arrival. There will be one ticket for each vegetarian for each meal they will receive. They should turn in one ticket at the Dining Hall to receive their vegetarian entree. Non-vegetarians may not switch to vegetarian entrees during the weekend. The exact number of vegetarians must be communicated to the Program Coordinator ten (10) days prior to the retreat. Individuals with special dietary requirements; i.e. food allergies, etc. are responsible for supplying any food supplements necessary.
