Mary E. Gardner Astronomy Lab

Space Exploration:  This class increases students’ knowledge and understand of space through a variety of hands-on experiments.  Students will study the basics of gravity and learn about black holes, comets, and asteroids.  In addition, students will find out how astronauts live in space; they even get to enjoy some astronaut ice cream. 

Starlab: Students learn about star facts and constellations through an active and engaging discussion.  After participating in the discussion, students will enter the portable planetarium, called a Starlab, where they will learn the location of several constellations in the night sky and learn a few of the stories behind the constellations.

YMCA CAMP ALGONQUIN property is owned by the McHenry County Conservation District and is operated by the YMCA of McHenry County.
